Other groups fighting Bolsterstone wind farm proposals |
|
DTOG is not the only protest group fighting Bolsterstone. Of the 10 proposals likely to be taken into planning, five have protest groups actively campaigning against them. The 10 projects are listed below, together with Bolsterstone’s website for the project and the website address of any opposition group.
In addition to these projects, three more at Fletchertown, Aston and Thornhill (Stirling, Scotland) are in preparation.
You are strongly recommended to visit the www.againstnewlandswindfarm.co.uk website where good advice is given on the ‘Object’ page and worrying noise and flicker cases are shown on the ‘Videos’ page.
The Reeves Hill protest group is known as the Stonewall Hill Conservation Group, which is a little confusing for those who don’t know the area.
The Brixworth and Great Cransley groups are working in an area riddled with wind farm proposals. The Bolsterstone applications are not to be confused with a separate application for 2 turbines at the Mercedes-Benz plant or another single turbine nearby. The www.stopbrixworthwindfarm.co.uk website contains the excellent demolition of Bolsterstone’s claimed ‘green’ credentials by Professor Michael Jefferson, used by DTOG in its main objection report.
One common theme is emerging with regard to Bolsterstone’s public ‘consultation’. For the Newlands application, the Reeves Hill application and the Dunsland Cross application, Bolsterstone had 'Yes2Wind' canvassers trying to get shoppers to sign up to support the wind farms in town centres up to 20 miles away. Be aware that, of the 149 letters of 'support' at Dunsland Cross, 64 of them were shoppers' sign-ups. There is also compelling evidence to suggest that up to 50 of the other letters were written by Bolsterstone itself and posted out to known supporters for signing and sending on to the council. See Section 12 of the DTOG report for more details and other 'dirty tricks'. |
